Staff members lead workshops at the Joyner Library Paraprofessional Conference held at Eastern Carolina University on May 11, 2018.
Linda Lashendock, video archives technologist, led an interactive workshop titled “Excel in Customer Service for All Human Beings.” The workshop covered how to develop techniques for delivering an excellent customer service experience by building on existing knowledge, and equipping participants with a variety of tools and ideas.
Patrick Rudd, coordinator of library instruction and outreach services, and Betty Garrison, business research librarian, joined Amanda Lenz, digital content strategist, to conduct a hands-on workshop titled “What’s Our Story? Creating Compelling Visual Stories About Your Library and Community.” The workshop taught participants how to use visuals to convey meaning behind raw data to library patrons and the local community. Topics covered how to craft custom infographics, explore best design practices, and the types of data best suited for infographics.
