Katie Maraghy '15 and Nick Dyer '11 both have roles with the popular late-night program.
Two Elon alums who have contributed to the success of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah are celebrating the popular late-night program’s recent nomination for three Emmy Awards.
“It’s a wonderful feeling,” says Katie Maraghy ‘15, who has been an executive assistant at the show for just over two years.
During her time at the show, Maraghy has found keeping track of a 24/7 news cycle can be a challenge but she thoroughly enjoys the work. “I’ve loved working somewhere where you laugh hard every single day,” she says. “These are some lovely, hilarious, dedicated people that make it fun to walk in the door each morning.”
Nick Dyer ’11 started at The Daily Show in 2015 as a Comedy Central producer embedded with the show and was recently promoted to director of late night, digital at Comedy Central. “I’m very grateful that I get to work with such an amazing, hard-working, and dedicated team,” Dyer says. “It’s so great to see everyone’s hard work recognized by the Television Academy, especially Trevor’s.”
The Daily Show airs each weeknight and is hosted by Trevor Noah. The show was nominated for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Outstanding Short-Form Variety Series and Outstanding Interactive Program. It won a Creative Arts Emmy in September 2017 for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series. Maraghy and Dyer both credit a dedicated, talented and hard-working team for the show’s success.
The 70th Annual Primetime Emmys will air Sept.17 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
