A look ahead at the events surrounding the inauguration of Elon President Connie Ledoux Book later this month.
The university community is invited to gather on Phi Beta Kappa Plaza on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 9:40 a.m. for a special College Coffee as the campus gears up for the presidential inauguration.
As part of Inauguration Week, College Coffee will offer an opportunity to contribute to a fundraising initiative in honor of President Book that will support Elon programs as well as the Alamance-Burlington School System. With the “Honor President Book Drive,” each contribution of $20 or more to Elon will mean a new book for the local students. In honor of each gift, Elon will contribute a book to the school system, with each book including a sticker noting that the donation was made in honor of President Book and her inauguration.
Contributions will be accepted during the Oct. 16 College Coffee and can also be made at the “Honor President Book Drive” table at Rhodes Stadium during the Oct. 20 football game against the University of Richmond.
Contributions can also be made online at any time by visiting: https://connect.elon.edu/honor-president-book
More information about the drive, including a running tally of gifts and FAQs, is available here: https://www.elon.edu/u/administration/president/inauguration/inauguration-book-drive/. The halftime program during the football game on Oct. 20 will include an announcement of the number of books to be donated to the Alamance-Burlington School System as a result of the drive.
The program during College Coffee on Oct. 16 will include remarks by Brian Feeley ’03, director of alumni engagement, and Ashley Billie ’21, who will announce how many gifts have been made so far and make a ceremonial presentation to the school system. President Book will also speak about the partnerships Elon has with local schools and the importance of those relationships.
