Elon Votes! is sponsoring rides to the polls from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from the Center for the Arts and an Election Night Watch Event at 8 p.m. in the Moseley Center on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Where Do I Vote in Alamance County?
If you are registered to vote here in Alamance County, the polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Elon University is divided into two election precincts, so not all Elon students will vote at the same polling place. Before you leave for the polls verify your polling place to determine where you need to go. Visit the Elon Votes! Voting in North Carolina page for details.
How Do I Get to My Polling Place?
An Elon shuttle will run a continuous loop between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from the Center for the Arts to these two polling places:
Antioch Community Church (1600 Power Line Road)
First Baptist Church of Elon (621 E. Haggard Ave.)
What Should I Bring with Me on Election Day?
While the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the North Carolina voter identification requirement in 2016, the 2002 Help America Vote Act is still in effect.
Students will only need to bring identification and proof of residence if they are doing same day voter registration at an early voting site OR on election day if their original registration application was not confirmed. Every student will not need to provide identification, only for the two instances mentioned above.
Students Living On-Campus Should Bring:
1. A valid student photo identification card (Elon Phoenix Card, driver’s license or other photo identification issued by a government agency) to confirm identity.
Note: Each polling site has a booklet containing Elon student on-campus addresses and physical street addresses. Students can ask a poll worker to verify their campus residence on this copy.
Students Living Off-Campus Should Bring:
1. A valid student photo identification card (Elon Phoenix Card, driver’s license or other photo identification issued by a government agency) to confirm identity.
2. A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document showing the voter’s name and current address in Alamance County.
How Can I Learn More About the Candidates on My North Carolina Ballot?
You can view your ballot in advance of casting your vote by selecting the link in your voting record when you verify your polling place and then researching the candidates. In addition, you can also consult the North Carolina Nonpartisan Voting Guide.
Whom Should I Call with Voting Concerns?
Contact the Alamance County Board of Elections at (336) 570-6755 with any concerns.
