JJ Niemann ’17, currently a swing in the Broadway production of the Tony Award-winning musical, is being featured in a solo spread advertisement for “The Book of Mormon,” appearing in The New York Times.
Mere days after graduating from Elon’s Music Theatre program, JJ Niemann ’17 learned that he would be performing as a swing in the Broadway company of The Book of Mormon. Since making his debut in July 2017, Niemann has performed frequently, covering several tracks in the ensemble.
This past May, Niemann participated in a full-day photo and video shoot at a studio in New York City for The Book of Mormon, along with other members of the ensemble. During the shoot, more than 50 cameras captured Niemann performing jumps and leaps in front of 360 degrees of blue screens to create the effect of “circling” the dancer.
Niemann’s photo was recently featured in a full-page solo spread in The New York Times. The photo can also be seen on Instagram and Facebook, and may soon appear on billboards and in videos around Times Square and New York City to help promote the show.
In addition to appearing in the advertising campaign, Niemann is featured in The Book of Mormon’s new augmented reality app, called “Book of Mormon Musical AR.” The app is available now for download in the App Store.
