Sam R. Olson ‘20 has been awarded the Kappa Sigma Alumni Scholarship, a $4,500 award that will go toward his Elon education.
Olson was recognized by demonstrating excellence in academics, campus involvement and fraternity leadership. Olson, from Bow, New Hampshire, is a history major with minors in classical studies and chemistry.
In 1999 Elon Kappa Sigma alumni became the first from an Elon Greek letter organization to formally endow an academic scholarship specifically for undergraduate members. The endowment has offered annual academic scholarships to undergraduate members of the Elon Kappa Sigma chapter who demonstrate academic integrity and leadership prowess.
Elon Kappa Sigma members may apply for the scholarship award that enables them to continue their academic pursuits. The scholarship is an official component of the Elon University institutionally managed scholarship endowment and scholarships are available for award each academic year. Elon’s Kappa Sigma chapter was founded locally on Sept. 21, 1973, and has initiated close to 900 initiates during its history.
