The stand-up comic, who recently garnered attention with the premiere of his Comedy Central special "Giggle Fit," will perform in Alumni Gym at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.
Stand-up comedian Ron Funches will headline the Elon Student Union Board's annual spring comedy event on Wednesday, April 10, at 8 p.m. in Alumni Gym.
Funches has generated attention with the recent premiere of his Comedy Central special "Giggle Fit," which aired in January. With a unique and loveable demeanor, Funches has performed stand-up comedy on the Conan O'Brien Show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He's highly regarded for his acting and voiceover talent, with roles in NBC's "Powerless" and "Undateable" and in movies such as "Get Hard" with Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart.
Funches also has appeared in television shows such "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Goldbergs" and "New Girl." On Comedy Central, he has had recurring roles in the shows "@midnight," "The Kroll Show," "Drunk History," and he has appeared on ABC’s "Black-ish." His voice-over credits include "Bojack Horseman," "Adventure Time," "Bob’s Burgers," "Home" and the DreamWorks animated film "Trolls."
“When we first started brainstorming options for the comedian, Ron’s name came up multiple times as a truly experienced comedian who would resonate well with Elon’s student body," said Erin Eady, the Student Union Board's performance chair. "I am so excited that we are welcoming an artist that has such a fun, positive energy, that I believe will intrigue students, faculty and staff, in a way I’d argue we haven’t done before."
Free tickets for students can be reserved on PhoenixCONNECT. Physical tickets will be available for pickup a week prior to the show, starting Wednesday, April 3, in Moseley 207.
In addition, up to four free tickets are available for faculty and staff, which can also be requested via PhoenixCONNECT and will be delivered to individual campus boxes on a rolling basis.
