Crystal Ramsey, assistant professor of physical therapy education and interim director of clinical education, and Srikant Vallabhajosula, associate professor of physical therapy education, received a $20,000 community grant from the Parkinson's Foundation for their project "Do supervised home exercise programs improve compliance, physical functioning and emotional well-being in persons with Parkinson's disease after physical therapy care?"
The objective of their study is to investigate the efficacy of a supervised home exercise program following individualized physical therapy care in improving compliance with prescribed activity, physical function, quality of life, apathy and fall-risk among persons with Parkinson's disease.
The study will use participants from the community and will involve graduate students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program to administer the PT intervention
