“Elon Tonight,” a sketch comedy show that airs on Elon Student Television, will host its 10th season premiere at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 10, in Turner Theatre.
Students have been working on the 30-minute show since February, and producer McKenzie Miller ’20 said it will feature “a compilation of the best of sketches made throughout the semester.”
The staff’s primary focus for the premiere is not solely to showcase the sketches with the best production quality, but more so to engage and entertain the audience.
“Sometimes a sketch may be made and it’s not premiere quality,” Miller said, “but it’s what we think is going to make the audience laugh the most.”
“Elon Tonight” hosted a season premiere during the fall semester, as well, but a goal for this spring’s showcase is to commemorate a show has kept the Elon community entertained and laughing for a decade.
“We’re definitely not the longest-running ESTV show, but the fact that we’ve been able to preserve this show for 10 years shows that this is kind of a staple of our campus and our communications school,” Miller said. “So we’d love to see everyone come out and support it.”
“Elon Tonight” welcomes anyone to walk the red carpet, and admission is free. The full show will be available on YouTube on May 11.
