SPDC welcomes Kiera O'Donnell and Alison Doherty to the SPDC team of professionals.
Meet the new career advising fellows:
Alison Doherty is originally from Wakefield, Massachusetts. She is a proud Elon alumna who earned her bachelor of arts in special education & elementary education in 2016.
Following graduation, Doherty took a position as a special education resource teacher at an elementary school in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she worked with K-2 students with mild to moderate disabilities. Doherty recently graduated from the University of Georgia with an M.Ed in college student affairs administration.
During her two years at the University of Georgia, she served as the graduate assistant for Experience UGA, a partnership program between the university and the local school district that brings students in every grade level to campus each year for engaging, curriculum-based field trips.
In her spare time, Doherty loves to travel and spend time outdoors hiking, going on bike rides, and playing tennis. She also enjoys reading, country music, trying new restaurants, and is a huge fan of the show "The Office." Doherty is very excited to return to her alma mater in this new position and join the team in the SPDC.
Kiera O'Donnell is originally from Cheshire, Connecticut. She graduated with a bachelor of arts in human services and rehabilitation studies from Assumption College. She most recently graduated with a master of education in higher education with a concentration in intercollegiate athletics administration from the University of Virginia.
While pursuing her master's degree, she served as the graduate assistant for the Athletic Academic Affairs Office. In this role, she oversaw the academic success for her caseload of student-athletes in addition to the awards and postgraduate scholarship process for all student-athletes. Through this experience, she developed a further appreciation for holistic student development and a passion for providing support services for students pursuing their next steps.
In her spare time, O'Donnell enjoys finding new music to listen to and watching sports, especially football. She also loves watching documentaries about just about anything. She is so excited to join the SPDC team as one of the Career Fellows for the 2019-20 school year and assist with helping Elon students explore their passions.
