Recently released data from the NCAA shows Elon leads the Colonial Athletic Association with a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 96 percent.
Elon student-athletes are succeeding in their respective sports as well as in the classroom, according to recently released data from the NCAA.
The NCAA released the 2018-19 Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Federal Graduation Rate data for all Division I institutions as a part of the annual NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program.
According to the program, Elon received an overall single-year GSR of 96 percent, the highest mark in the Colonial Athletic Association. Elon is one of three schools in the CAA to achieve an 85 percent or higher overall GSR.
Leading the way at Elon were men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s track & cross country, men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s tennis and volleyball, each earning perfect 100-percent scores.
The men’s basketball program’s 100-percent mark meant a perfect score for the team in six consecutive seasons. The women’s golf team earned its ninth-consecutive 100, while the women’s tennis and men’s cross country teams each earned their fifth-consecutive perfect scores. For women’s basketball, the 100 makes the Phoenix one of two CAA schools to reach that mark, and the women’s track and cross country program has now earned a score higher than 95 in every GSR release.
“I am continually proud of the commitment that our student-athletes display in achieving both academic and athletic success,” said Director of Athletics Dave Blank. “They consistently strive to be the best they can be both in and out of our competition venues. The 2019 Graduation Success Rate report shows the drive that Elon student-athletes possess to succeed in both arenas. It’s also a great testament to the invaluable mentorship and support our coaches, staff and faculty provide on a daily basis.”
Other programs receiving top honors in the 2018-19 report include:
- Football, which earned a 96-percent GSR, the second highest in the CAA and 10th highest in the Football Championship Subdivision.
- Baseball, which earned its second-consecutive GSR of 94 percent, both marking the team’s highest scores since 2010.
- Women’s soccer, whose 93-percent score gives the program a GSR of 93 or higher every year of the report, including a perfect score six times.
- Men’s soccer, which earned a score of 90 percent, giving the program a score of 90 or higher in four straight years.
