The university is a sponsor of the event hosted by the City of Burlington that offers a look into the wide array of resources, activities, events and businesses available within the local community.
In partnership with the City of Burlington, Elon University will participate on Oct. 30 in Belong in Burlington, a free event designed to help neighbors connect to their community.
Belong in Burlington gives those new to the area — as well as longtime residents — the opportunity to discover their community and find new ways to fall in love with the place they call home.
Launched in 2017, the event regularly brings organizations and resources from the community to the Burlington Municipal Building so that residents can learn about how to connect with the community and with each other. Belong in Burlington will feature eight kiosks designed to help attendees find ways to connect to their community. The kiosks include information about exploring the city, recreation options, health and wellness initiatives, and more. The City of Burlington Recreation & Parks Department will also provide organized activities for children attending the event.
Belong in Burlington offers another opportunity for Elon University to share about its impact on the broader community, including the cultural and athletic offerings local residents can find on campus, the partnerships the university has with scores of community organizations, and the educational initiatives with the school system to help support student success.
“Elon University students, faculty and staff live in, work in and support Burlington,” said President Connie Ledoux Book. “Through internships, volunteer efforts and programs like our ‘HOPE Clinic,’ Elon Academy, and ‘It Takes a Village Project,’ we grow together. We look forward to many more years of this thriving and positive partnership with the City of Burlington.”

On Oct. 30, Representatives from the university, Elon Athletics and the Inn at Elon, the boutique hotel now under construction on Elon’s campus, will be on hand to tell Elon’s story and to offer giveaways to attendees. Additionally, Elon students, faculty and staff are invited to attend to learn more about Burlington.
The Burlington Municipal Building is located at 425 S. Lexington Ave. The community is welcome to stop by the event between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
