Elon's vice president for access and success was recognized at the organization's Early Education Summit.
Jean Rattigan-Rohr, Elon’s vice president for access and success, has been honored with the Ron Waters Award for outstanding dedication and service to the children of Alamance County by the Alamance Partnership for Children. The award was presented by Waters’ daughter, Sophie Waters, at the seventh annual Early Education Summit, held Jan. 30, 2020, at First Presbyterian Church in Burlington, N.C.
In addition to her work leading Elon’s Center for Access and Success, Rattigan-Rohr served three years on the board of the Alamance Partnership for Children and currently chairs the Kindergarten Readiness network with Alamance Achieves.
“We are very fortunate that Jean has been involved in the work of early childhood education for so many years in Alamance County,” said Carrie Theall, executive director of the Alamance Partnership for Children. “We know her dedication will continue as we move in the direction of even more success for our youngest children.”
In her acceptance remarks, Rattigan-Rohr said there is much more to do on behalf of the children of Alamance County and that she remains hopeful that community partners, educators and policy makers working together can make great progress.
The award is named in honor of the late Ron Waters, who was a steadfast supporter of the Alamance Partnership for Children, serving on the board of directors, the planning and evaluation committee and as board chair. He was a constant advocate for families and young children in Alamance County.
