The Jan. 10 article published by the national political media outlet included information reported by Elon students spending Winter Term covering the Iowa caucuses.
A Jan. 10 article about the decision by Marianne Williamson to drop her presidential bid includes reporting from Elon students who spent most of January reporting on the Iowa caucuses.
The article notes that Williamson told an Elon University journalist that she had been remaining in the race “to the extent to which I wake up in the morning and my heart says be in the race. So this morning, I woke up and I knew I was supposed to be here tonight.”
However, Williamson decided on Jan. 10 that she would leave the race.
The Elon journalist was one of about two dozen students who participated in “Iowa: The Trail Starts Here,” a course offered during Winter Term and led by Associate Professor of Journalism Rich Landesberg and Mark Dalhouse, director for global experiential initiatives and assistant professor.
Students in the program divided into two groups, with half covering the activity by presidential candidates for Elon News Network and a travel blog, and the remainder working with campaigns.
