The futuristic musical, based on the songs of British rock band Queen, follows a group of rock rebels in their fight for freedom, individuality and the rebirth of the age of rock.
The Department of Performing Arts will take audiences on toe-tapping journey to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion and live music, as it presents “We Will Rock You,” on Feb. 13-16.
Based on the songs of British rock band Queen and a book by Ben Elton, “We Will Rock You” is a rock musical set in a globalized future where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same. The comedy follows a group of rock rebels, known as the Bohemians, as they fight against the all-powerful Globalsoft company and its boss, the Killer Queen, in a struggle for freedom, individuality and the rebirth of the age of rock.
The exciting performance features more than two dozen of Queen’s biggest hits, including “We are the Champions,” “Somebody to Love,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” and many more.
The Elon production of “We Will Rock You” is directed and choreographed by Paul Stancato, with music direction by Valerie Maze, lecturer in performing arts and music theatre music director.
Each performance will be at McCrary Theatre in the Center for the Arts. The Feb. 13-15 performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the Feb. 16 performance is at 2 p.m.
