Professor of Music Thomas Erdmann has announced the publishing of his seventh book. The book, “How Saxophonists Understand Their Music,” is a collection of five in-depth interviews with some of today’s greatest saxophonists.
It’s a collection of interviews Erdmann did for Saxophone Today following its final issue in 2017. The interview subjects are: Ed Calle, (Professional Saxophonist who has performed on over 1,200 albums, 9,000 singles, and countless TV and TV award shows, as well as countless movie soundtrack appearances, which makes him undeniably in the top three or four most recorded saxophonists in history), Geoffrey Deibel, (Saxophone Professor at Florida State University), Jared Sims, (Saxophone Professor at West Virginia University), Michael Lington, (Danish Smooth and Contemporary Jazz Musician), and Brian Utley, (Saxophone Professor at Vanderbilt University).
