Assistant Professor Aaron Trocki, Associate Professor Karen Yokley and Associate Professor Jim Beuerle of the Department of Mathematics have published the results of pedagogical interventions in the Mathematical Association of America journal FOCUS.
With the support of a Diversity and Inclusion Grant from the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, the team designed strategies to increase student engagement, communication and ownership of learning with an emphasis on student collaborative problem-solving in the classroom.
Trocki, Yokley and Beuerle documented the effectiveness of these strategies for a wider audience in the article, “Increasing Student Engagement in Calculus I.”
