School of Communications to host weeklong virtual celebration

Beginning on Monday, May 11, the school will host five nights of programming, premiering student work and celebrating academic achievements at 7 p.m. on ElonComm apps for AppleTV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV. The programs will also be available on the school’s Facebook and Vimeo platforms.

Fire up those streaming devices because the School of Communications has planned a weeklong virtual celebration, recognizing student work and outstanding achievements during the 2019-20 academic year.

Beginning on Monday, May 11, the school will present five nights of programming on its streaming apps and Facebook and Vimeo accounts. Yes, there is no better time to download the ElonComm channel on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android TV apps.

The five-day event, billed as ElonComm Premiere Week, will feature the following lineup:

Monday, May 11
elondocs Showcase

elondocs will screen audio, video and photo documentaries produced by students in the program.

Tuesday, May 12
Senior Showcase

This evening is dedicated to cinema projects completed by graduating School of Communications students.

Wednesday, May 13
BFA/Honors Thesis Showcase

Just as the title suggests, this showcase will present BFA projects and an honors thesis completed this year.

Thursday, May 14
ElonComm Awards Ceremony

The school’s annual awards celebration has moved online this spring. Six Outstanding Senior Awards will be presented, as well as 15 scholarships and awards for returning students. Additionally, the school will recognize three faculty members and one staff member for their outstanding work during the academic year.

Friday, May 15
Sport Management Virtual Banquet

The Department of Sport Management’s senior banquet and awards ceremony has gone virtual as well. The sport management faculty will present six awards and scholarships, and recognize the department’s Outstanding Senior Award recipient, who will be also be honored at the school-wide awards ceremony.
