In this edition of #ElonTBT, we give a nod to the Class of 2020 as it prepares to conclude its final year.
Four years of hard work and dedication are coming to a close for the latest group of Elon University seniors, as the Class of 2020 prepares for a virtual degree conferral ceremony next week. The ceremony will mark the end of a long journey that started on Aug. 26, 2016.
That day 1,548 new students moved to Elon for the first time as the Class of 2020 flocked to campus on Move-In Day. Take a look at some of the highlights from Move-In Day 2016 in this photo gallery.
At the time the class made up Elon’s largest group of first-years in the university’s history. The 1,500 students were selected from 10,000 applicants and hailed from 41 states. Sixty percent of the class was made up of women, 20 percent came from ethnically diverse backgrounds and 9 percent had international backgrounds.
Some of the most popular majors among the new students were biology, finance, management, psychology and journalism.
On Friday, May 22, members of the Undergraduate Class of 2020 will be officially awarded their degrees during an online conferral ceremony planned for noon EDT. The ceremony will be streamed at www.elon.edu/live and more details about the ceremony will be available at www.elon.edu/commencement.
