A recent Daily Beast article about a University of California Berkeley nuclear engineering professor’s ties to a far-right wing party in Serbia featured insight from Assistant Professor of Political Science and Policy Studies Jasmin Mujanovic.
The article focused on the UC Berkeley professor’s ties to Dveri, a Serbian party that publicly takes extremist stances. Mujanovic, who in 2018 published a book about contemporary Balkan politics titled “Hunger and Fury: The Crisis of Democracy in the Balkans,” offered some context about the group.
“They’re very open and explicit about their support for Serbian ultra-nationalist heroes of the 1990s like (Ratko) Mladic—there’s no attempt made to obscure that part of their identity,” Mujanovic told the Daily Beast.
