Arts West parking lot will become a drive-in theater and art gallery Wednesday at 6 p.m. for screenings of student films and Spike Jonze's "Her."
As fall semester 2020 winds down, the Department of Art will host food trucks, an outdoor art show and a screening of the Oscar-winning 2013 film “Her” at a drive-in event Wednesday night.
The physically distant art festival will begin at 6 p.m. in the parking lot at Arts West, 406 W. Haggard Ave. The movie begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Among attractions Wednesday:
- Student art and films on the big screen from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.;
- Intermedia students’ lightform sculptures installed on the grounds around Arts West;
- A faculty member’s light projection installation piece installed in the parking lot, as well as another on the Arts West building itself;
- Student artwork displayed inside Arts West, where restrooms will be available;
- Select guests will be treated to popcorn delivered by drone; and
- Free “Art Department Drive-In” commemorative t-shirts for early guests.
Physically distant seating will be available for those without vehicles. Film audio will be transmitted through FM radios.
