The associate professor of finance receives a ‘Highly Commended’ award for his co-authored paper on cash flow volatility and trade credit in Asia.
Chris Harris, associate professor of finance and chair of the Department of Finance in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, receives a 2020 Emerald Literati Award of Excellence for “Cash flow volatility and trade credit in Asia,” which was published in the International Journal of Managerial Finance in 2019.
The journal’s editor and editorial advisory board selected the paper for one of three ‘Highly Commended’ honors. They evaluated papers published in 2019 on several factors, including research impact, structure, writing, rigor and relevance.
In the award-winning paper, Harris and co-authors Scott Roark, The University of Tennessee – Knoxville, and Zhe Li, Bemidji State University, identify the relation between cash flow volatility and trade credit offered by firms in developing Asian economies. Their study identifies an important connection between cash flow volatility and firm investment in trade credit among firms in developing Asian economies.
Harris received a doctorate in finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to joining Elon in 2013, he worked as a hedge fund analyst with Greenwich Alternative Investments.
