The university saw a record number of Early Action applications from students around the globe this year, and extended admissions invitations to top applicants on Dec. 17.
Future members of Elon University’s Class of 2025 received admissions invitations this week following a record number of Early Action applications from across the country.
The majority of future Elon students apply through the non-binding Early Action plan, which provides them an early response on their application status. This year saw more than 12,100 students apply under the Early Action plan, a 14 percent increase over last year. Early Action applications were due Nov. 1 and students were notified via their Acorn accounts on Thursday, Dec. 17, with an acceptance packet to arrive in the mailboxes of admitted students in the near future.
“We’re excited to offer admission to an incredibly talented and impressive group of students,” said Vice President for Enrollment Greg Zaiser. “We hope each one will choose Elon and immerse themselves in all that the university has to offer. This year’s pool of admitted students comes from all 50 states and 43 countries around the world. They will bring a broad range of academic and personal experiences that they will continue to build upon here at Elon.”
Elon University has taken a number of steps in recent years to make the application process more accessible to students. This year Elon piloted a change to its undergraduate admissions process to give prospective students a choice about whether to include scores from the SAT or ACT tests as part of their applications for admission. In 2017 Elon joined the Coalition for College to streamline the application process for more students. In 2019 the university became a member of the Common Application, the leading college application platform with more than 900 member institutions.
The application deadline for the Fellows, Scholars, Accelerated Pathways and Odyssey programs is Jan. 15.
The final application deadline for the Class of 2025 is Jan. 10, with those applicants notified on March 20. Applications received after that deadline will be considered on a space-available basis. Find out more at the undergraduate admissions website at www.elon.edu/admissions.
