Elon University has launched a new virtual tour, including video interviews and a fully interactive campus map, for prospective students, admitted students and alumni.
Whether you are a prospective student wanting to see Elon University for the first time, an admitted student who wants to plan your first-year experience, or a proud alum who wants to see the many ways your alma mater continues to evolve – a new virtual tour of Elon is now available.
The new tour was designed as a starting point for visiting the Elon campus, giving users an opportunity to get oriented and begin to explore some of the sights and sounds of one of the nation’s most renowned environments for learning. Users of the virtual tour portal have access to multimedia and rich resources illustrating the Elon Experience.
Video interviews with current students, faculty and staff provide information about academic programs and resources, experiential learning, global engagement, student life, dining options, student success programs and residential neighborhoods.
A fully interactive campus map provides a virtual experience of the campus through the eyes of a first-time visitor. The map contains 360-degree photos of building interiors and exteriors and facility descriptions that illustrate how those spaces are used by first-year students as well as the broader Elon community.
“Clearly, nothing replaces your first walking tour of Elon with our terrific student guides, but our new virtual tour is an excellent way for prospective students to research one of the world’s most beautiful university campuses from home,” said Greg Zaiser, Elon’s Vice President for Enrollment.
“We wanted to make sure that we are meeting the needs of our prospective students and their families during this unprecedented moment in time by providing safe alternatives to an in-person visit to campus,” Zaiser said. “Plus, the virtual tour can be viewed on mobile or desktop devices at any time and offers a terrific way for families to pre-plan their future visit or to remember their favorite spaces after they are here.
“This online tool will help prospective students and families get to know the Elon community, so that they learn firsthand why students choose Elon. Elon’s story, programs and people are brought to life in the personalized manner that best suits the current needs of a future student or parent.”
Virtual tour users also have an opportunity to complete Elon’s request for information form to let the Admissions team know they would like to learn more about the university. They can also apply for admission and register for an on-campus tour.
The virtual tour complements the on-campus experiences that can still be scheduled, as well. Elon’s campus visit programming is safely operating – but on a smaller scale. Small group campus visits are being conducted Monday through Saturday each week with modified tours. Sessions are limited for the health and safety of visiting students and families.
- In addition to the virtual tour, the Admissions Office also offers a wide variety of virtual programming to help prospective and admitted students get to know Elon. Some of these opportunities include the following:
- Join the weekly 20-minute ‘Life as a Phoenix’ Facebook Live sessions with faculty, staff and student hosts who discuss academic and student life programs, along with many other topics
- Schedule a virtual session to talk one-on-one with an Elon Admissions counselor
- Tune in for a ‘Chat with a Phoenix’ session in which current Elon students talk about life on campus and within the classroom
- Attend a virtual class for an opportunity to experience what makes Elon’s academic programs and approach to learning so distinctive.
“Directly hearing from and seeing members of the Elon community as they describe their Elon experiences is one of the best ways for prospective students and families to get to know Elon,” Zaiser said.
