The closure of the McMichael lot is also impacting a BioBus stop and the Outer Loop and Danieley tram routes.
The McMichael parking lot is closing at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, as construction begins on Founders Hall and IQ2, the first two buildings within the new Innovation Quad.
To offset the closure of the 326-space parking lot, Elon has added Innovation Quad parking lots with more than 400 new parking spaces on a portion of the former Elon Elementary School property that can be accessed from East Haggard Avenue and Phoenix Drive. The new parking lots have been built during the past several months, with landscaping and lighting work for the lots to be completed soon.
Additionally, the existing McMichael East parking lot with 177 parking spaces is now accessible from East Haggard Avenue. The electric vehicle charging station formerly located in the main McMichael lot will be relocated to the McMichael East lot.
The lots are reserved for use by visitors and students, faculty and staff with FS, GF, GR and LS permits.
More information about campus parking permits and a parking map are available here.
The closure of the McMichael lot will also impact the BioBus stop on the south end of the lot that has been part of the Outer Loop A&B routes and the Danieley Center Tram. On Monday, March 1, the stop will relocate to the existing Inman bus stop on the west side of North O’Kelly Avenue between the Inman Admissions Welcome Center and the Martin Alumni Center.
The bus stop relocation is bringing changes to the Danieley Center Tram route, which will now incorporate East Haggard Avenue and a new stop at Danieley Center A. The Danieley Center Tram will continue to run from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. with a bus arriving at each stop every 10 minutes.
The Outer Loop A&B routes are unchanged apart from the relocation of the McMichael bus stop.
