Charlotte Smith advocates for COVID-19 vaccinations efforts in PSA with fellow NC basketball coaches

In a recent public service announcement, Elon head women's basketball coach Charlotte Smith joined college basketball coaches from across North Carolina to encourage residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

As the statewide push to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to North Carolina residents continues, some of the state’s top college basketball coaches are encouraging others to “Take Your Shot.”

Elon head women’s basketball coach Charlotte Smith appeared in a recent public service announcement about the vaccine. The video, released by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, highlights the importance of the vaccine and each coach’s reason for taking it. Smith calls on coaches, players and fans to get the vaccine to help prevent further spread of COVID-19 and save countless lives.

“Get in the game, get off the sidelines and get vaccinated,” Smith said. “And so it’s important for us to take the torch, be the example and make sure we’re doing our part to protect our community.”

Along with Smith, the PSA includes appearances by NC State head coach Kevin Keatts, Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina head coach Roy Williams, Wake Forest head coach Steve Forbes, and High Point head coach Tubby Smith. Each coach left the audience with the simple message “You have a spot. Take your shot.”
