Luchsinger, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq, was a reporter covering the war in Afghanistan in 2011. Luchsinger told WXII that the the decision to remove troops from the country should have been more calculated.

“I do think there is an appropriate way to draw down forces and I don’t think the appropriate way is necessarily letting the Taliban know hey we plan to be out of here at such and such time,” Luchsinger told reporter Justin Schrair. “I think this is something that needs to be discreet it needs to be well thought out and methodical.”
