Elon’s campus was filled with the feeling of family this past weekend as students greeted moms, dads, siblings, grandparents and all manner of relatives for Family Weekend 2021.
The weekend included Fall Convocation featuring soccer legend Carli Lloyd and her trainer, Danny Madaroski, in conversation with Assistant Professor Lauren Walker in Schar Center. With the theme of the power of relationships, the discussion delved into Lloyd’s success on the pitch as an Olympic gold medalist and World Cup champion, and how personal connections contributed.
The men’s soccer, volleyball and football teams all competed during the weekend, with the Phoenix losing a close one to William & Mary in Rhodes Stadium. Dancing in the Landscape performances intertwined Elon dancers with the university’s beautiful campus, while singers took to the stage for ROCKapella shows in Alumni Gym and the Music Department faculty put on a concert in Whitley Auditorium.
Family members found a wide range of information sessions offering an in-depth look at aspects of an Elon education, including study abroad and career services, as well as the Elon Storytellers Fireside Chat featuring Elon leaders and alumni and a university update from President Connie Ledoux Book.
There were plenty of opportunities to socialize, including Phoenix 4th Friday in downtown Burlington, a Casino Night in Moseley Center and an outdoor showing of “In the Heights” on Young Commons.
