Thomas, a music theatre alumna of Elon, has returned to Broadway as productions have resumed following the pandemic.
Nasia Thomas ’15 returned to musical theater with a bang following the pandemic as a member of the cast for the Broadway revival of “Caroline, or Change.” The return to the stage has been soul-reviving for her and her fellow performers.
“Laughing, crying, standing ovations and thunderous applause at the end of the show, it showed us how much audience missed live theatre,” she said. “It confirmed that we are, and have always been, essential.”
She credits the training, character building and networking skills she developed while in Elon’s Music Theatre Program for her great post-graduation success. Most importantly, she also learned the power of believing in herself and working to her best potential, seeking joy whenever and wherever she can.
“Don’t waste what are supposed to be the best years of your life being stuck in your head, not realizing your power and not believing in yourself,” Thomas said.
Thomas recently starred in a revival of Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last 5 Years” which was released digitally on May 9. The revival was originally set to be filmed at the Holmdel Theatre Company and then streamed. But the production was reimagined and transformed into a site-specific, immersive production filmed entirely in a New York City apartment.
As a cast member of “Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations,” Thomas performed a medley of The Temptation more-famous tunes at the 73rd annual Tony Awards in June 2019.
Take a trip to Broadway and see Nasia in action starring as Radio 1 in “Caroline, or Change” which is running until Jan. 9, 2022.
