Camerata and élan announce auditions for spring semester

Contact Associate Professor of music Stephen Futrell for more information on the auditions at sfutrell@elon.edu.

Elon Choral Activities has three choral ensembles that are open to all Elon students regardless of major.

University Chorale is non-auditioned and meets Monday and Wednesday at 2 p.m. Just sign up/register. There’s a place for you! Contact Gerald Knight for more information at gknight2@elon.edu.

As for Camerata and élan, both groups are auditioned. It’s that time of the semester when we announce auditions for open spots in both Camerata and elan just before pre-registration for the next semester – in this case Spring 2022.

For Camerata (meets MWF, 12:30-1:40) – we are looking for two sopranos, two altos, three tenors and four basses. If you are interested in auditioning for Camerata for the spring: video record an art song, aria or other lyrical piece which will show off range and expression and send to Stephen Futrell over the next two weeks at sfutrell@elon.edu.

For élan (meets TR, 2:30-4:10) – we are looking for singers in all sections (one to two each). We will be doing a tribute to Stevie Wonder with both vocal jazz arrangements and covers. So, if you are interested in auditioning for élan for the spring, a Stevie Wonder song would be perfect for your video audition. Otherwise, record a jazz standard, pop song or Gospel selection (again showing range and expression), and send to Dr. Futrell over the next two weeks at sfutrell@elon.edu.
