The pop-up shop will be held at Alumni Gym on Dec. 2 and will be presented by the Doherty Center and Elon Dining.
The Elon community will have the opportunity to get into the holiday spirit with the Marketplace Under the Oaks: Holiday Pop-Up Shop on Thursday, Dec. 2 at Alumni Gym from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The pop-up shop will include “one-of-a-kind” items from local vendors, artisans and merchants. The Marketplace Under the Oaks initiative began in the fall semester of 2020, holding its first in-person event in February 2021, as a way to highlight student-led businesses.
Both The Doherty Center for Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Elon Dining spearheaded the initiative and will present the upcoming holiday pop-up shop. Elon graduates Laura Welch ’21 and Claire Bach ’21 also played a major part in the marketplace’s inception.
“We understand that many in our network and those considering joining in on all of the fun may not necessarily have products or services for sale but are still entrepreneurial at heart. We still want to include them to amplify the work that they are doing regardless of whether they have a product or service to sell,” Bach said.
Alyssa Martina, director of the Doherty Center said, “We think of creativity as being the fuel for entrepreneurship. To that end, we celebrate our creative class of students for launching amazing side businesses that capture the creative spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.”
