The championship will be held at Hunt Softball Park on May 12-14.
The Elon University softball team will host the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Softball Championship presented by Primis on its home diamond at Hunt Softball Park this spring as recently announced by the league office. It will be the first time in program history that the Phoenix will host the league’s championship tournament, which will take place on May 12-14.
“We are very excited to host the CAA championship for the first time in our program’s history,” said Elon head coach Kathy Bocock. “We are so grateful for the opportunity for our community to watch some elite softball this May. I want to personally thank Elon President Connie Book and Dave Blank as well as the other athletic administrators for making this possible along with the CAA.”
Hunt Softball Park has been the home of the Elon softball program since 2013. Named in honor of Vicky and Sam Hunt of Burlington, N.C., the couple gave lead gifts of more than $1.25 million for the facility, which was dedicated on February 28, 2013.
“We appreciate the Hunt family for what they provided for this program nearly 10 years ago with our softball facility,” added Bocock. “We have one of the finest facilities in the CAA and in our region and we cannot thank them enough for what they have given Elon softball. We look forward to welcoming everyone for a first-rate championship experience.”
This will be the fifth CAA Championship tournament at Elon University during the 2021-22 academic year. Elon also hosted the 2021 CAA women’s soccer tournament this past fall and will also host the league’s 2022 men’s and women’s tennis championships at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and the 2022 baseball tournament at Latham Park later this spring.
