Student and staff members in the Elon Registrar’s Office were active at the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers’ (AACRAO) annual conference in Portland, Oregon, from April 3 to April 6.
Undergraduate senior Jordan Binkowitz ’22 presented his research on how students communicate experiential learning to employers. His research also considered how students utilize Comprehensive Learner Records, such as the Elon Experiences Transcript, in their employment search. This was his second time presenting these findings as he also participated in Elon’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE).
Senior Assistant Registrar Alexander Taylor worked alongside Binkowitz, presenting the employer perspective related to the Elon Experiences Transcript. Alexander also led a panel of registrar professionals about the future of alternative credentialing and how institutions should document learning achievements such as experiential learning and digital badges.
Finally, Elon’s University Registrar Rodney Parks was awarded AACRAO’s Outstanding Mentor Award, which recognizes a member for exceptional commitment and personal investment in mentorship, guidance, and development of others. Binkowitz and Taylor, two of Parks’ many mentees, were present to see Parks to receive this award.
