PreLaw Magazine has again listed Elon University School of Law in its annual rankings of best law schools in the United States dedicated to “preparing students for practice.”
Elon Law earned an “A” and is North Carolina’s highest-ranked law school in PreLaw Magazine’s 2022 feature of “Best Schools for Practical Training.”
The annual rankings published by one of the nation’s most widely read publications covering legal education used several data points including the number of clinics, externships, pro bono hours, simulation courses, and moot trial participation reported by law schools.
Elon Law, listed at #23 in the 2022 rankings, offers students a broad array of opportunities to hone practical training skills throughout their 2.5 years of study. Those include:
- Full-time residencies-in-practice
- Team-based legal projects for nonprofits
- Lab courses
- Five clinics (immigration, small business and entrepreneurship, wills drafting, guardian ad litem appellate advocacy, and constitutional law appellate advocacy)
- Moot court and mock trial teams
- Internships, externships, and judicial clerkships
- Bridge-to-practice courses
- Involvement with the Pro Bono Board
The ranking from PreLaw Magazine comes at the same time Elon Law has recently reported a 90 percent employment rate for its Class of December 2020 and an 88 percent ultimate bar pass rate for the Class of 2019.
“There is no better way to prepare students for the practice of law than by having them gain hands-on experience as part of their studies,” said Elon Law Interim Dean Alan Woodlief. “Our Residency-in-Practice Program, our clinical offerings, our lab courses, and our opportunities to compete in moot court and mock trial competitions all help set our graduates up for success from the very first moment they begin work with clients.”
