Elon University is hosting a Summer Concert and Picnic for the community on Wednesday, June 15, from noon to 2 p.m. at Martin Alumni Center. The concert will feature the North Carolina Brass Band.

The concert and picnic will follow the screening of “Cars” during the Summer Movie Series.

Elon students, faculty, staff and members of the community are encouraged to come out to hear this wonderful musical ensemble. More about the North Carolina Brass Band from its website:

The North Carolina Brass Band, under the direction of Brian Meixner, is a 28-member ensemble composed of many of the finest brass players and percussionists in the state. The band includes symphony orchestra musicians, leading soloists, chamber music professionals, jazz artists, brass and percussion professors at universities throughout the region, and highly sought-after freelance professionals. The diverse musicians of the NCBB have come together to create an ensemble as colorful and rich as the literature they perform.

Guests are welcome to bring their own food, chairs and blankets to sit on, if preferred.

The Martin Alumni Center is near the corner of East Haggard and North O’Kelly avenues (No. 25 on this campus map). Parking will be available at the McMichael lot off of East Haggard Avenue.
