Public invited to comment for Elon University Campus Police accreditation assessment

Assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators will be on campus in late July.

A team of assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will arrive on July 31, 2022, to examine all aspects of the Elon University Campus Police policy and procedures, management, operation, and support services, Chief Joseph LeMire announced Tuesday.

“Verification by the assessment team that our department meets IACLEA’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation – a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence,” LeMire said.

Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling (336) 278-5550 on Aug. 1, 2022, between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Comments will be taken by the assessment team.

Telephone comments must address the department’s ability to comply with IACLEA’s standards. The IACLEA Accreditation Standards Manual is available on the IACLEA website (www.iacleea.org).

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Elon University Campus Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to IACLEA, 342 North Main Street, West Hartford, Connecticut 06117-2507.
