The world’s largest HR association recognized Elon’s student chapter for its excellence and achievement during the 2021-22 academic year.
The Society for Human Resource Management presented a 2021-22 Merit Award to Elon’s SHRM student chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its members.
“The members of our SHRM student chapters represent the next generation of HR leaders, and it’s critical to highlight the instrumental role they play in SHRM’s success,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, SHRM president and CEO. “The hard work of Elon’s chapter shows the future of the profession is, indeed, in good hands. I applaud their accomplishments and ability to foster innovative programming, development and interest in HR as we navigate changing workplaces.”
Chapters are recognized based on operations, chapter programming and professional development of members, support of the human resource profession, and SHRM engagement.
“Our chapter’s goal is to serve as a bridge to the professional resource community and to advance knowledge, understanding, and application of human resource principles and practices,” said Maddie Ohlweiler ’23, president of Elon’s chapter. “We are committed to providing students with professional development and opportunities to expand their learning opportunities within the field.”
“I’m grateful that our club has sustained excellence in member engagement, especially these past few years,” added chapter advisor Associate Professor Brian Lyons. “This award is the explicit result of the effective leadership of our previous executive board and serves as a benchmark for the current one. On that note, our current club leaders are eager to continue this excellence and have planned engagement opportunities that strengthen HR-related competencies in our membership.”
This is the sixth consecutive year Elon’s chapter has received either a Merit or Superior Merit Award. For more information about the chapter, visit its page on PhoenixConnect.
