Isaias Hernandez, better known as QueerBrownVegan, will discuss 'Sustainably Loving Ourselves Through Intersectional Environmentalism' on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in Upstairs Lakeside.
As part of Campus Sustainability Week, Elon will host a keynote discussion titled “Sustainably Loving Ourselves Through Intersectional Environmentalism” by Isaias Hernandez on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in Upstairs Lakeside.
Isaias Hernandez is an environmental educator and creator of QueerBrownVegan. He seeks to provide a safe space for like-minded environmentalists to advance the discourse around the climate crisis.
The crises that we face are converging into multidimensional issues. Intersectional environmentalism is an inclusive approach to environmentalism that looks into advocating for the people and the planet simultaneously. Hernandez will share their journey as a young queer brown environmentalist in pursuit of pushing climate literacy and building sustainable love that allows people to continue building power in movements.
This keynote presentation is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by the Office of Sustainability, Campus Recreation & Wellness, the Center for Race, Ethnicity & Diversity Education, the Environmental Studies Department, the Gender & LGBTQIA Center, and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies Program.
