Families and loved ones visited Elon's campus for a variety of events during Family Weekend 2022.
Elon students reconnected with their parents, grandparents, siblings and relatives of all kinds for an exciting Family Weekend 2022 while weathering the remnants of Hurricane Ian as the storm made its way through the area.
Thousands gathered on Saturday, Oct. 1 for the Phoenix Fan Fest for a variety of games, food, live performances and giveaways before the nail-biting football game where the No. 14/18 Phoenix defeated Richmond 30-27 in double overtime. The Phoenix men’s soccer team also put up a dominating performance with a 3-0 win against Drexel.
Family members were also able to get more information about the university as President Connie Ledoux Book had coffee with families before providing a university update in the Schar Center.
With the first Oak Originals of the semester, families were able to purchase goods from students entrepreneurs and the ROCKapella shows in Alumni Gym showcased the talent of various student a cappella groups. Night on the Commons at Moseley Center was the last event of Saturday before families were treated to a brunch at all three of Elon’s dining halls on Sunday.
Unfortunately, the inclement weather from Hurricane Ian led to the cancellation of events on campus on Friday afternoon and evening, including Fall Convocation with actress and activist Ashley Judd. The university is working to bring Judd back to campus to speak at some point in the future.
