Medallion ceremony honors Business Fellows in the Class of 2023

An annual program on the day before Commencement offered Love School of Business faculty and staff an opportunity to celebrate four years of achievements by a cohort that persevered through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elon University Business Fellows in the Class of 2023 received medallions to wear at their graduation when they convened inside the LaRose Digital Theatre the day before Commencement for faculty and staff mentors, family, and friends to recognize their accomplishments.

As they were reminded during the celebration on May 18, 2023, the cohort traveled together, studied together and engaged with each other in their academic pursuits that culminated with a series of senior projects based on career interests.

A consulting group under the guidance of Martha and Spencer Love School of Business Dean Raghu Tadepalli helped students work on a consulting presentation and report for Cyrkl, a global waste management technology company headquartered in Prague with plans of expanding its operations to the United States.

Students were able to present their projects in Prague to the clients, providing them with a valuable opportunity to present their work directly and learn from the feedback as well.

Professor Raj Gupta guided the portfolio management group that handled a $500,000 portion of the university’s endowment. The Fellows’ portfolio outperformed the S&P 500 Index, highlighting skills and knowledge attained throughout their studies.

Professor Steve DeLoach, voted by the Class of 2023 to present the medallions, emphasized in remarks that true value and worth extend beyond external symbols of achievement. He encouraged Fellows to embrace unique qualities.

Tadepalli also shared his wisdom and advice with the class, acknowledging their commitment and self-discipline. He reminded them that life may not always unfold as planned, but in such moments, they should avoid self-pity and instead seek support from their loved ones.

Tadepalli said that both triumphs and challenges are integral parts of life. While much has been given to Fellows throughout the Elon education, they must earn future accomplishments in the “University of Life.
