Join Elon University in celebrating the Alamance County community at Phoenix 5th Friday in downtown Burlington on Sept. 29 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
The traditional 4th Fridays event series in downtown Burlington presents an opportunity to gather with family, friends, and neighbors to eat, drink, and listen to music with the Historic Depot as the backdrop. This special Phoenix 5th Friday will coincide with Elon’s Family Weekend festivities.
Elon will take center stage at the Sept. 29 event as part of its year-long “Rising from the Ashes” commemoration of growth and innovation at the university following a devastating fire in January 1923 that destroyed its Main Building and threatened its future. With robust support from the residents of Alamance County, college leaders plotted a course for rebuilding bigger and better, and positioned Elon to become the leading national university it is today.
Phoenix 4th Friday will offer plenty of fun for the family, including games, food trucks, live music, giveaways and hang out with the Elon Phoenix. Parking will be available in designated spaces in downtown Burlington. The Elon Express will provide transportation to and from the university’s campus every 15 minutes from the Inman Admissions Welcome Center roundabout on campus along North O’Kelly Avenue.
Friday’s event is presented in collaboration with the City of Burlington’s Recreation & Parks Department and the Burlington Downtown Corp.
Visit Elon’s Rising from the Ashes website to learn more about the history of the fire and rebuilding and to find details for other upcoming events that are part of the university’s commemoration.
