The campus community is invited to celebrate Elon’s ongoing efforts to promote integrated wellness with a Campus Wellness Fair, Faculty/Staff Benefits Fair, flu vaccine clinic and educational sessions.
Elon University will host its second annual HealthEU Day on Tuesday, October 17. HealthEU Day is part of the university’s comprehensive and integrated wellness program, HealthEU.
HealthEU provides access to resources, educational tools and support for all members of the university community while cultivating personal wellness values they can rely on even after leaving the university.
This year’s day-long event will include a campus wellness fair, educational sessions and activities throughout the day across campus. New to this year’s events is the faculty/staff benefits fair, which will take place in conjunction with the Campus Wellness Fair. Another new collaboration includes the Campus Sustainability Week keynote address, “Cultivating Connection, Resilience, and Food Sovereignty” with speaker Ashlie Thomas.
Ashlie Thomas, also known as The Mocha Gardener, is the author of “How to Become a Gardener: Find Empowerment in Creating Your Own Food Security,” home gardening advocate and an entrepreneur. Thomas’ blog has been featured on NBC, House and Home, Taste of Home and Country Living.
During the keynote address, Thomas will explore the powerful synergy between cultivating nutritious food, fostering community bonds and promoting greater personal and collective wellness. The keynote speaker is sponsored by the Office of Sustainability, HealthEU, the Food Studies Minor, the Kernodle Center for Civic Life and Public Health Studies.
