Families and loved ones visited Elon's campus for a variety of events during Family Weekend 2023.
Elon welcomed a record number of family members to campus with open arms for Family Weekend 2023, as siblings, parents, grandparents and other family members reconnected with students for a wide array of activities.
For the three-day celebration, 2,148 families registered and over 7,200 guests were welcomed on campus — both records for Family Weekend at Elon.
The weekend kicked off on Friday, Sept. 29 with the Fall Convocation address from Daymond John, founder and CEO of celebrated global lifestyle brand FUBU, star of ABC’s Shark Tank and CEO of The Shark Group consulting agency. John also heard pitches from entrepreneurial students in the Love School of Business and gave feedback on their respective business ventures while on campus.
Elon Phoenix football won a tough battle against No. 5/4 William & Mary on Saturday in front of 12,705 fans, the third-most in Rhodes Stadium history. The win also marked the eighth consecutive home win for the Phoenix, the most since Elon began playing in Rhodes Stadium.
There were plenty of events for families to get acclimated to the Elon community, such as the Phoenix 5th Friday event in downtown Burlington, the Oak Originals at the Marketplace event on campus where student entrepreneurs sold their goods, and the ROCKapella shows in Alumni Gym showcasing the talent of various student a cappella groups.
Family members found a wide range of information sessions offering an in-depth look at aspects of an Elon education, including study abroad and career services, as well as the Elon Storytellers Fireside Chat featuring Elon leaders and alumni and a university update from President Connie Ledoux Book.
