Physic Tea hosts talk on hot and cold gasses in galaxy groups

Hosted weekly by the Department of Physics, Physics Tea promises engaging discussions, thought-provoking ideas and a delightful spread of refreshments.

UNC-Chapel Hill graduate student Zack Hutchens recently visited the Department of Physics to give a talk titled, “RESOLVE & ECO: Tracking Cold and Hot Gas Across the Galaxy Group Population.”

RESOLVE and ECO are publicly accessible databases that include 3D optical spectroscopy and additional information. Using information from these databases, Hutchens and his research group have been able to relate galaxy size to gas temperature and metallicity.

Hosted weekly by the Department of Physics, Physics Tea promises engaging discussions, thought-provoking ideas and a delightful spread of refreshments. Open to all students, faculty and staff, this gathering is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow physics aficionados in a relaxed and informal setting.
