The March 8 conversation will feature four leaders active in artificial intelligence issues
Elon University President Connie Ledoux Book will moderate a webinar focused on issues related to artificial intelligence in higher education. The event will be at 3 p.m., Friday, March 8, and is free and open to all. It is sponsored by Elon’s new Imagining the Digital Future Center.
“AI in Academia: Transforming Teaching and Learning in the Digital Era,” will explore why taking action now on AI is so important; how institutions can develop a position statement, campus structures and best practices; and what impacts AI could have at colleges and universities between now and 2040.
The webinar will include four distinguished panelists who are actively involved in working with and integrating AI technologies in universities and business:
Ethan Mollick

Through his widely read “One Useful Thing” blog and Substack newsletter, Ethan Mollick has emerged as one of the most prominent voices on the topic of AI in higher education. His academic papers have been published in top management journals and his research has been covered by CNN, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR and others. His upcoming book on AI, Co-Intelligence, is billed as “the definitive playbook for working, learning and living in the new age of AI.”

Hoda Mostafa works in educational development, digital education and strategic pedagogical and institutional initiatives. Following a distinguished 24-year career studying the evolution of technology at Pew Research Center, Lee Rainie has joined Elon University to direct the Imagining the Digital Future Center. The center’s new study to be released Feb. 29 is a two-pronged look at the impact of AI by 2040, with the results of a national public opinion poll and incisive predictions about the AI revolution by more than 200 technology experts.
