Dean of Global Education Nick Gozik received a Fulbright grant to represent Elon University in Taiwan.
Following a competitive application process, Dean of Global Education Nick Gozik was selected as one of 14 senior leaders to participate in a Fulbright International Education Administrator seminar in Taiwan in March 2024. The diverse cohort included representatives from various types of institutions, from community colleges to Ivy League universities, and with a wide array of professional titles, including a college president, deans, assistant provost and directors.
With the goals of learning more about higher education in Taiwan, building connections with Taiwanese institutions and learning more about Taiwan’s history and culture, the seminar featured visits to 15 university campuses and government offices paired with cultural and historical visits. On behalf of the cohort, Gozik provided opening remarks for meetings at Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET).
“It was an honor to be accepted to the program, and to have an opportunity to learn both with and from such an esteemed group of colleagues,” Gozik said.
Coming away from the experience, Gozik plans to translate what he has learned into a new program for business students, as well as additional avenues for language and culture learning.
Elon is a top producer of student Fulbright grant recipients, with support from the Office National and International Fellowships, as well as a regular producer of faculty and staff grantees. These global opportunities fit into a broader set of internationalization efforts at Elon, as outlined in the University’s most recent Global Strategic Plan.
