Vice President for Student Life, Jon Dooley, shared information on Sunday, May 19, about operations and safety on campus during Summer Break.
With the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year for undergraduate students and many graduate programs, many university offices, programs and facilities are shifting their hours for the summer to adjust to having fewer students on campus and fewer events planned.
Emergency and Crisis Response
- As a reminder, Campus Safety & Police will operate as normal, 24 hours per day, and can be reached at 336-278-5555. They can also assist with connections to the Student Life on-call administrators, who are available 24/7 throughout the summer.
- SAFEline is always available at 336-278-3333 for confidential support with sexual and relationship violence response – they can also be a confidential resource to access on-call violence responders.
- For urgent mental health needs, the Counselor On-Call is available at 336-278-2222.
- For any life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1.
TimelyCare Virtual Medical and Mental Health Care – available all summer
- Telemedicine and telemental health services through TimelyCare will be available to all Elon students, regardless of whether they are enrolled in summer classes, as long as you are in the United States.
- Graduating students can continue to access TimelyCare through July.
- Information is available on the TimelyCare page of the Dean of Students website, and can also be accessed through the appointments pages of the Counseling Services and Student Health Services websites.
Campus services available during Summer Break
Below are the hours for student service operations during Summer Break. Please note that University offices are closed on Monday, May 27, 2024, for Memorial Day and Thursday and Friday, July 4 and 5, 2024 for Independence Day.
Belk Library
- Belk Library will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 24, and will operate on a reduced schedule until summer hours begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
- Belk Library will be open to Phoenix cardholders and community members from Tuesday, May 28, through Thursday, May 30.
- Summer hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. – 11 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday 6 – 11 p.m.
- The library will be closed for university holidays Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day), and Thursday, July 4 through Sunday, July 7 (Independence Day).

Barnes & Noble at Elon University
- Starting Tuesday, May 28, the bookstore will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. It will be closed on Sundays and holidays coinciding with University closures.
- Updated hours for specific dates are always available on the bookstore website.
Campus Recreation and Wellness
- May 24-27: All facilities closed to reset operations.
- May 28-31: Koury Center is open 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.; all other facilities closed.
- Summer Session I hours begin on Monday, June 3: For more details, go to the Campus Recreation and Wellness website and scroll to Summer I hours of operation.
- Summer Session II and August hours will be posted on the Campus Recreation & Wellness website later this summer.
Counseling Services
- Starting Monday, June 3, office hours will be weekdays, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., except when the university is closed.
- Clinical appointments are available Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Call 336-278-7280 during office hours for scheduling assistance or visit the Counseling Services website to schedule a first appointment.

- On-demand mental health support is available 24/7 throughout the summer using TimelyCare’s “TalkNow” service. For information about how to access the service, visit the TimelyCare webpage.
Elon Dining
- Starting Tuesday, May 28, Lakeside will be open weekdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be closed on most weekends and holidays coinciding with university closures.
- Additional hours may be available based on the camps and conference schedule.
- Visit online to view planned dates and hours as of now (subject to change).
- Menus and hours are always available online.
Elon Express and Campus Transportation
- All Elon Express routes will stop service at the end of shifts on Tuesday, May 21. Elon Express will resume routes in August with the start of the Fall Academic Semester.
Moseley Center
- Starting Tuesday, May 28, through Saturday, Aug. 17, the Moseley Center will be open weekdays 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The building will be closed on Sundays throughout the summer.
- Irazu Coffee will be open weekdays, 8 a.m. – noon.
- Mail Services:
- Starting Tuesday, May 28, Mail Services is open weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on weekends and holidays coinciding with University closures.
- If you are in Elon for the summer (June & July) and would like to continue to receive mail and packages, you MUST fill out the Summer Address Notification Form in OnTrack. Visit the Summer Mail page for more information. This only applies to returning students, not students that will have graduated.

Residence Life
- Residence Hall Residents
- Residence halls close on Wednesday, May 22, at 10 a.m.

- Campus Apartment Residents
- Apartments close on Friday, May 31, at 10 a.m. (unless an apartment resident has renewed the exact same space and has a June 1 lease start date)
- The central Residence Life office and apartment neighborhood offices remain open during the summer break during regular weekday business hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., except when University offices are closed. Residence hall neighborhood offices are intermittently staffed in summer.
Student Health Services
- Starting Tuesday, May 28, administrative staff and appointments with a provider are available every Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. The clinic will be closed weekends and holidays.
