Honors Fellow and Goldwater Scholar Danielle DaSilva ’24 and Professor of Mathematics Karen Yokley recently published an article that uses various mathematical models and techniques to investigate obesity trends in the United States. The project focused on population dynamics and compared the various models to data collected by the CDC.

The paper, “Mathematical Approaches of Modeling Obesity Trends,” presents DaSilva’s research from her Honors Thesis. The article appears in Volume 10 of The North Carolina Journal of Mathematics and Statistics.
