Important Fall break campus safety and service reminders

Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley, shared information on Tuesday, Oct. 8, about operations and safety on campus during Fall Break.

Fall Break for undergraduate students and some graduate programs begins Wednesday, Oct. 9, following evening classes and ends at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14.

Note that residence halls do not officially “close” during Fall Break, although University offices on the main campus in Elon are closed on Friday, Oct. 11, to give faculty and staff a holiday.

As a reminder, there are several 24/7 services available throughout this time.

  • Campus Safety & Police can be reached at 336-278-5555. They can also assist with connections to the Student Life on-call administrators.
  • Crisis Counselors are available at 336-278-2222 for urgent mental health needs.
  • SAFEline is available at 336-278-3333 for confidential support with identity-based bias, sexual violence, or interpersonal violence – they can also be a confidential resource to access on-call violence responders.
  • TimelyCare free virtual medical and mental health service is available 24/7 throughout the break from anywhere in the United States.

Below are hours of student services that continue operations throughout the break.

Barnes & Noble at Elon University

  • The Barnes & Noble store will be open during fall break.
  • Visit the Barnes & Noble store website for information about hours or online shopping.

Belk Library

The Belk Library will close at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, and will be open throughout Fall Break: Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Regular hours resume Sunday at 10 a.m.

Campus Recreation and Wellness

  • Recreation and Wellness facilities will remain open during the Fall Break, but most will have modified hours. The new outdoor fitness court will also be available throughout Fall Break.
    • Wednesday Oct. 9
      Koury Athletic Center: 6 a.m. – 5 p.m.
      Beck Pool: 7 am – 8:30 am, 12:15 – 1:30 p.m.
      *Driving Range, South, & PARC Gym CLOSED
    • Thursday Oct. 10
      Koury Athletic Center: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
      *Beck Pool, Driving Range, South & PARC Gym CLOSED
    • Friday Oct. 11 – Sunday October 13
      *ALL Facilities CLOSED
      Regular Operations Resume Monday Oct., 14

Counseling Services

  • Open for appointments during regular hours Thursday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Closed Friday, Oct. 11.
  • TimelyCare virtual mental health services are available throughout the break, including TalkNow for 24/7 on-demand mental health support. These services are free to students. The Crisis Counselor remains available 24/7 by calling 336-278-2222.
  • If a student is experiencing a psychological emergency that is life-threatening or involves imminent danger (risk of harm to self or others at any time), call 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.

Elon Dining

  • All dining locations will have modified hours for the Fall Break with Lakeside serving as the primary dining hall open.
  • Visit the menu-hours page of the Elon Dining website for the latest update information about dining location hours and menus.

Moseley Center

  • The Moseley Center will be open abbreviated hours during Fall Break
    • Wednesday, Oct. 9: 7 a.m.- 8 p.m.
    • Thursday, Oct. 10: 7 a.m.- 5 p.m.
    • Friday, Oct. 11: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Saturday, Oct. 12: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.
    • Sunday, Oct. 13: 11 a.m. – Midnight

Mail Services

  • Mail Services will be closed Oct. 11 – 13.
  • Please note that shipping partners will hold your items during this time, and Mail Services will process everything as soon as possible when they reopen.

Residence Life

  • Residence Halls do not close during Fall Break.
  • Offices remain open during the break during regular weekday business hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., except Friday, Oct. 11, when university offices are closed.

Student Health Services

Transportation and Elon Express

  • All Elon Express Shuttle routes will stop Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.  The Elon Express will resume normal schedule on Monday, Oct. 14.

Parking

If you leave your vehicle on campus during break please take any valuables with you and make sure your vehicle doors are locked.  Prior to leaving for break, please make sure your vehicle is not parked in one of the following lots on Saturday, Oct. 12 for football game-day:

  • Barnes lot
  • Ingold lot
  • Koury lot
  • Global
  • Hunt A and Hunt B
  • Inman Admissions lot

Students may move their vehicle to one of the following lots, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 8.

  • Innovation Quad lot
  • Colonnades lot
  • Danieley Center lot
  • Historic Neighborhood lot
  • Station at Mill Point lot

Please do not leave your car in the lots at South Campus, or they may be ticketed or towed due to events in that area over break.
