Welcome back from what I hope was a restful Fall Break! Here are your “Phoenix Five” tips for the week ahead:

Sustainable Alumni Speaker Series – Devon Johnson

Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, 6:30 – 7 p.m., Virtual

This series provides insight into alumni sustainability-related careers and offers professional development for current Elon students. Devon Johnson ‘17, senior policy analyst at the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS),  advocates for market-based policies to advance sustainable energy in the U.S. and abroad. Her work focuses on promoting accurate greenhouse gas accounting in voluntary standards and state policies. Register for the event online.

Join Iron Tree Blooming for October’s Full Moon

Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, 8 p.m., Colonnades Quad

In the fast-paced world of Elon, it’s essential to take a moment to breathe and be present. The Iron Tree Blooming Meditation Club offers a space for students to unwind, connect with themselves and find inner peace. Whether you’re a seasoned meditator or curious about what meditation has to offer, our club welcomes all. The club meets weekly on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. in Numen Lumen. However, the first ever Full Moon Night Meditation Sitting will take place on Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. in the Colonnades Quad. Please register on PhoenixCONNECT for priority access to catered food.

2024 First-Generation Celebration

Wednesday, Oct. 16 – Friday, Nov. 8 

Celebrate the first-generation community throughout October and November with a host of events concluding on National First-Generation College Student Celebration Day. This year’s theme is “Sharing Stories” to highlight Elon’s diverse and dynamic first-generation community. Learn more about upcoming events.

Residence Life Student Staff Hiring for Fall 2025

Information sessions held Wednesday, Oct. 16 – Monday, Oct. 21

Applications are now open for Resident Assistant, Apartment Manager and limited House Manager positions within living-learning communities (LLCs) for Fall 2025! Join a dynamic group of student leaders serving as role models and mentors to students across campus. Check out the website to find out how to apply and stay up to date on all things recruitment.

Students interested in applying are required to attend one information session to learn more about the positions, neighborhoods, and the department:

One-Stop Early Voting

Thursday, Oct. 17 – Saturday, Nov. 2, South Gym

Individuals registered to vote in Alamance County can cast their ballots at one of five One-Stop Early Voting Sites this fall from Oct. 17 through Nov. 2. One of those sites is located at the Elon University South Gym. Students and Alamance County residents can also register to vote and cast their ballots during a single visit. Specific hours can be found on the Alamance County Board of Elections website.
